Systemwide book club

Posted by Chris S on October 29, 2008

Credit this idea to Leslie Langley. We were visiting about book clubs and she mentioned that one of her focus group participants mentioned having an online type of book club. It should not be too hard to make sure each branch had a copy of the book. There are several ways to go with this. Either at a set time everyone could log on from home and chat about the book, or we could follow amazon’s example and have everyone just post their comments about the book. I’m sure super smart Cathy Tucker could come up with something we could do on the website.  Does this idea appeal to anybody?   Chris

Valliant is interested in starting an online book club. We already have a book club that meets once a month but some of our members like the idea of the online book club, too.

    Greetings,

I was surfing today and stumbled upon your posting regarding book clubs. I’m one of the founding partners of Booksprouts.com

We are an online book club site that is free to join, and allows members to create a club, invite friends, create meetings, and to choose and read books together online. The service is still fairly new, and we are interest in getting feedback on it, as well as getting the word out to people that may be interested in the service. We welcome you to trying out the service free of charge, and welcome to you blog or write about it – good or bad – we appreciate all feedback that helps us improve the service for our members.

Thank you, and we hope you enjoy Booksprouts.com!

Please contact me directly with any questions or assistance.

Booksprouts might be a good way to start this. What do you think Chris and Elaine?
